Put on your water shoes, grab your favorite beach towel, and head to the beach this summer! Find the perfect patch of sand at the numerous area beaches. Overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan is the Waukegan Municipal Beach, featuring a mile of sand that is groomed daily, some natural sand dunes, and with lifeguards on duty from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., you can rest assured that you and your kids will be kept safe. Besides sunbathing, swimming, picnicking and sand volleyball, kite boarding and surfing are also some favorites for this hot spot! On a clear day, be sure to look for the Chicago Skyline off in the distance! Enjoy weekly concerts during the summer season at the Stiner Pavilion, and let your stress drift away with each wave.
Another beach that I like to enjoy on hot day is the Paulus Park in Lake Zurich. Young kids will absolutely love this beach and the ever popular sprayground water play area! It is perfect for the young ones to run around in while you sit back and soak in the rays. Not to mention the amazing playground that makes every adult feel like a kid again.
Other beaches to relax and cool off on a hot day are Illinois Beach State Park, Forest Park Beach in Lake Forest, Antioch Turtle Beach Marina, Spring Lake Beach in Lincolnshire, Lindy's Landing in Wauconda, Diamond Lake Beach in Mundelein, Lake Front Park in Round Lake, Fish Lake Beach in Volo and Bangs Lake Beach in Wauconda. No matter how hot it gets, there are plenty of places to kick back, relax and cool off.
