Cookies, Cocktails and Cannoli

A day trip filled with deliciousness and things that tickle the tastebuds!

For those of you who haven’t experienced Lambs Farm, it warms your heart. Right along I-94 you can see the farmyard however, many don’t know what Lambs is. The staff dedicates themselves to helping people with developmental disabilities. We find that people like to shop with a mission in mind.

First, head to the Visitor Center for a greeting and overview of Lambs mission. Then let your group explore a bit on their own at the Cedar Chest Thrift Shop, Dogwood Garden & Pet Shop and the Sugar Maple Country Store. The group can make their way over to the Magnolia Café for a home-made lunch and afterwards everyone receives a bag of their famous butter Cookies!

Lambs Farm, North Shore Distillery and Tony Cannoli are all members of the Illinois Made Program.

Only 4 minutes away is North Shore Distillery which is Illinois’ first craft distillery since Prohibition. There you will meet Tony of Tony Cannoli who will provide your group either with a demo (and of course samples) or they can each fill their own Cannoli to take home. Tony Cannoli is a popular sweet stop in Lake County! Tony Cannoli has seasonal flavors as well, something to consider when planning your tour!

Afterwards, Sonja Kassebaum of North Shore Distillery will provide some Cocktail pairings with the cannoli. These are also available to consume. If you have time and want a tour of the production room, you are able to meet Ethel, the still who is the hardest working employee in the place!

Tony Cannoli and North Shore Distillery

You’ll want to allow some time for purchases at North Shore Distillery before heading back home.

This tour works well all year-round except Thanksgiving – New Year’s Day due to the high volume of product demands.
