Lake County, Illinois has so many options for holiday touring; you can create a mouthwatering, whistle-blowing itinerary to celebrate the holidays.
Your tour can include:
Additional Event Options:
Wandering Tree Estate offers 'Tea with the Train Lady,' (week after Thanksgiving thru the week before Christmas). Your group enjoys a full holiday tea service in the train studio overlooking 10 acres of land, gazebo and lake. A talk with the Train Lady herself Elaine Silets, a delicious meal and holiday music sets the mood for this tour. *Requires a minimum of 50 people for the tea setting.*
Chicago Botanic Garden's Wonderland Express is an annual tradition for the young and young-at-heart! See Chicagoland landmarks made out of natural materials surrounded by live plants and poinsettias while miniature trains go by! New - a miniature Nik Wallenda on a tightrope at the Marina Towers!
It must be 5 o'clock somewhere, so schedule a stop at Copper Fiddle Distillery for a tour and tasting! And they have made a special drink just for this tour, something to make your group go 'toot, toot!'
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Lake Zurich is just around the bend. After checking in, relax at their welcome reception before heading to the Marriott Resort Lincolnshire for dinner. A Broadway musical is playing at the Marriott Theatre, a short walk to your seats!
Wake up the next morning still craving, a chocolate tour of the Long Grove Confectionery Co. is a definite early sweet stop!
Don't let your group get all steamed up, schedule time for gift buying. They may like our quaint country village - Long Grove Historic Village or shopping with a mission at Lambs Farm. A seasonal group meal can be arranged at either location or lunch on their own.
Glassmaking and blowing is truly an art. A stop at Peter Patterson Glassworks provides either a demonstration or hands-on activity. Everyone can make a piece to be sent home later, purchase a gift for them to take home, or buy at the studio on their own. Christmas ornaments and pendants seem to be a big hit with the ladies! Mexican hot chocolate is provided by El Barrio Restaurant and we suggest it makes a great place for dinner with some holiday Mariachi music!
Here is where we 'switch tracks' so you may pick from other popular holiday events such as Dickens Holiday Village, an outdoor walk of Dickens era characters along the lovely Main Street of Antioch. Stay for a spot of tea before enjoying, "a Christmas Carol," at the local community theatre. Or enjoy a mouth-watering pot roast dinner overlooking Bangs Lake at Lindy's Landing with music by a local children's string ensemble. Or tour the three-story Victorian era Shiloh House that boasts 14 beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Then stay for a private catered-in dinner and music by the Zion Conservatory and add to your chocolate experience, a dinner at The Chocolate Sanctuary by the fireplace is the perfect end to the evening.
One more day of holiday adventures awaits your group. Shop at Norton's USA, an all-American made products general store and visit the lavish Sanfilippo Estate for a group luncheon in the Carousel Pavilion followed by an organ concert in the home of the Fisher Nut Co. family.
