Chocolate and Lucy

The itinerary combines a visit to a chocolate factory with a presentation about the making of the iconic TV show I Love Lucy. It is a good mix of cultural, historical and sensory experiences, catering to a wide range of interests. The day also suggests an optional winery visit to extend the fun.

10:00-11:45 a.m. - Long Grove Confectionery Co.
Duration 1.5 hours

• Chocolate and candy tours are always popular and this guided tour gives insight into how chocolates are made, which ties in well with the theme of Lucy and Ethel’s stint at candy-making.
• You will want to ensure there is enough time for shopping or for people to explore the store afterward.

12:30-2:00 p.m. -  First Draft Grayslake or 129 Center Cut. 
Duration 1.5 hours

• Both restaurants have developed a menu to offer food options featured in I Love Lucy.

2:30-3:30 p.m. - Presentation on the Making of "I Love Lucy" at University Center.
Duration 1-1.5 hours with questions 

• The presentation by local humorist Todd Hunt adds a personal and engaging touch, with clips from the show will appeal to fans.
• The educational component (history of the show, actors, memorable moments) balances well with the lighthearted and humorous theme.

Optional Winery Visit

• And if you have time, may we suggest a stop at one of our local wineries – Glunz Family Winery and Cellars in Grayslake or Lynfred Wheeling or Highland Park– 2 locations in Lake County. The winery visit adds a relaxing way to unwind after a day of activities.
