October is Oak Awareness Month in Illinois! Learn about the importance of oaks to whiskey and bourbon production through a talk and tasting with representatives from Journeyman Distillery in Three Oaks, Michigan and Whiskey Acres Distilling Co. in DeKalb, Illinois. Then learn about oaks' role as keystone species in Lake County through a guided hike in a designated old-growth forest at Ryerson Conservation Area. Guests will receive a tasting glass, three tastings from each distillery and light bites. All proceeds benefit the Every Acre Strong campaign. Please RSVP by October 1. Each timeslot is limited to 50 participants.
