A series of 16 fiberglass star sculptures have each been transformed by a different local artist in varying themes such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Starry Night,” “Birds of Lake County,” and many more. The stars are now installed this week in key locations throughout Downtown Mundelein.   

Each fiberglass star has been painted, decoupaged, or tiled by local artists who submitted proposals that were vetted by members of the MAC. To increase the longevity of the finished artwork, CARSTAR Mundelein, an automotive body shop in Mundelein, sprayed the stars with durable clear automotive topcoat.  The current plan is to display the stars for least 3-5 years, depending on the condition of the stars over time.
