Walking the Wonders of Wauconda – a progressive walking tour of the charming Main Street of Wauconda with your own private space for appetizers, lunch overlooking picturesque Bangs Lake plus local brews with a charming downtown for shopping! 

Your first stop is Lots-A-Knots Italian Bakery. The family-owned bakery features their own recipes for Italian knot cookies. Everyone gets a small bag of cookies to take along. This location is good for smaller groups, you may want to browse their other selections and beverages.

Lindy’s Landing, named after Bob Lindstrom “Lindy”, started out as a lakeside bar/marina in the 1970’s. This local hangout has moved now into the hands of Lindy’s three daughters. The restaurant was remodeled in 2003 and has become even more popular with three areas for dining. Your view of Bang’s Lake while dining on a light lunch keeps your groups on track fpr dessert at your next stop. The local chamber will stop by to welcome the group and give an overview of the shopping options on Main Street.

Right across Main Street, is SLYCE which features gelato, cannoli and tiramisu along with their brick oven pizza. We promise it's worth the wait! And if your group is interested, we can have a local historian speak about Phil's Beach which was featured in the 1980 movie "The Blues Brothers." 

Note, the entire walk including walking to Phil's Beach is under a mile, about 15 minutes total. 

We suggest coming to Wauconda on a Thursday, late June through early September when the popular Farmers Market runs from 4-7 p.m. Choose from fresh produce, flowers, meats, cheeses, breads, live entertainment, food vendors, and a myriad of other products.  

While enjoying the market, stop in the main street stores that carry antiques, fine women’s clothing, smoked meats & cheese, wine, baked goods, coffee and so much more. You will enjoy how everyone in town seems to know each other and offer that additional bit of service to go the extra mile. The Chamber can supply you with shopping guides in advance for your ride to Wauconda or they can be presented at your arrival at Lindy's. 

Note, this tour would start early to mid-afternoon to pair with the farmers market. Should you need more activities to add onto your day, please contact Jayne for ideas. Depending on where you are coming from, we have several venues that would work. However even alone, your group will love that they only need to disembark the motorcoach once, will enjoy the fresh air and become immersed in the charm of main street Wauconda.
