Scouting America’s Northeast Illinois Council will host an evening with Ron Young, an Eagle Scout, Army combat veteran and former Apache helicopter pilot who was shot down and held as a prisoner of war for 23 days during the 2003 invasion of Iraq before U.S. Marines rescued him. Young has since served as a CNN contributor, White House appointee, commercial pilot and “The Amazing Race” finalist. He now speaks nationally about courage, resilience, leadership, service and the power of character.
“The Courage to Lead: An Evening with Ron Young” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago. A social hour begins at 5 p.m., and the program starts at 6 p.m.
The event is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To register, visit neic.org/ron-young-special-event.
