Launched as the Robby Hunter Band, the group was renamed in 2015 with the release of Magic City Hippies—the album that solidified the trio’s laid-back and relentlessly kinetic sound.

Since then, the band has built a reputation for genre-fluid songwriting and high-energy performances, earning spots at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza. As Rock DNA Magazine proclaims, “there is no doubt that Magic City Hippies is one of the best rock bands from the East Coast.” With albums like Hippie Castle (2015), Modern Animal (2019), Water Your Garden (2022), the band continues to deliver psychedelic celebrations of connection and expression. In 2025, the band released their most recent album Enemies, a groove-centered breakup album full of emotionally charged, rhythm-driven tracks that marry indie-rock punch with nostalgic, synth-forward textures.
