Established in 2022, the annual Lure of the Local art exhibition highlights the creative practices of artists who live and work in the community, including teachers, neighbors and friends. Together, their works offer a multifaceted portrait of contemporary art as it emerges within the community. The exhibition takes its name from Lucy Lippard’s seminal text, The Lure of the Local, which explores the profound ways in which people construct meaning through place, memory and identity. This year’s theme is Love Letters. Whether it inspires a brand-new piece, offers a new perspective on existing work or simply gets ideas flowing, the theme invites artists to explore what Love Letters might mean through their own creative lens. Celebrate the opening of the exhibit with an evening featuring live music, food and beverages from local businesses, raffles and more.
