Girl Named Tom "One More Christmas Tour" at Genesee Theatre

The sibling winners of “The Voice” season 21 take their talents to the road as they perform “One More Christmas Tour” at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. The trio consisting of Bekah Grace, Caleb and Joshua Liechty have an eclectic style meshing the sounds of pop, folk and crisp harmonies as they won their reality series with the help of coach, pop sensation and “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson. The title track from the album named after their tour reached no.1 on the iTunes Charts. The siblings group have released two albums in their young career.

"Art of Celebration" Exhibition Showcase at Dandelion Gallery

Explore the fine works of Peggy Raasch as she features her work at the Dandelion Art Gallery through mid December.  The theme of this exhibit is the things we enjoy in our leisure i.e. eating, drinking, dancing, celebrations and chats with our lovbed ones. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" Live on Stage at Genesee Theatre

"Good grief! You’re a blockhead, Charlie Brown." Based on the “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, Charlie Brown and the gang explore the true meaning of Christmas as they navigate through adolescence in this comedic musical. Visit Genesee Theatre for the jazzy tunes of Vince Guaraldi's score, a post show, sing-along concert and enjoy a little Peanut nostalgia.

"A Karoake Christmas" at Three Bros. Theatre

Sing alongs are such a big part of the holiday season no matter what religion you are. The Three Brother’s Theatre in downtown Waukegan leans into the festive weeks with “A Karaoke Christmas.” The presentation follows a group of tired and frustrated individuals snowed in at the airport during their holiday travels. The travelers make the most of the situation after finding a karaoke machine in one of the terminals. The show runs on select days through Saturday, December 16.

Nightshade and Darks Pandemonium Brewing Co.

The Ray Bradbury-themed Waukegan brewhouse is a part of the Lake County Libation Trail. The Waukegan suds factory boasts 20 traditional and experimental brews and creates adult beverages on-site. In addition, the "Something Wicked This Way Comes" brewery offers 32-ounce crowlers and packs of bottles for carry-out, but Nightshade is also open for outdoor sips in the summertime. The brewpub now serves eats made by a partnership food truck. Their menu is highlighted by sandwiches, bowls, ribs, nachos, desserts and more. Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith "Christmas" at Genesee Theatre

Christian music and Christmas jingles go together like peas and carrots. Musicians Amy Grant (also known as the Queen of Christian Pop) and Michael W. Smith join forces to spread holiday cheer with a festive show for the entire fam and them. The duet in their extensive repertoire have taken home nine Grammy Awards (Grant won six; while Smith won four) and as solo artists the two have sold nearly 50-million albums. Grant and Smith have showcased their rapport with one another after creating numerous songs together complemented by several tours.

George Lopez is an American comedian, actor, writer and producer. He is best known for his self-titled sitcom, George Lopez, which aired on ABC from 2002 to 2007. Jay Leno at Genesee Theatre

One of the biggest names in comedy and television returns to Waukegan’s historic Genesee Theatre this weekend. Comedian Jay Leno, known for late-night television shows like “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Jay Leno’s Garage” and more will perform his stand-up act sure to make anyone giggle. The multi-Emmy and People’s Choice Award winner has earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Television Hall of fame in 2014. The avid car collector never forgets his stand-up comedy roots, performing over 100 shows a year.

"Miracle on 34th Street" at the Jack benny Center for the Arts in Bowen Park

A department store Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, spreads Christmas cheer while facing a legal battle to prove he's the real Santa. The New York City-based Kringle is only believed by Susan that he is the real man in the big red suit. After a jelly Macy's coworker cries wolf on a fake assault by the real Santa, the rosey-cheeked gent is placed in a psychiatric hospital. Will Santa be able to show his true colors? This 1947 film and renowned tale is part of many Lake County family staples and the Waukegan Park District facility is sure to put on a show that'll "knock 'em dead."

Dancenter North Presents "The Magic of the Nutcracker" at Genesee Theatre

Magic of the Nutcracker at Genesee

The Nutcracker is a staple of the holiday season, especially when it’s the night before Christmas Eve. The Genesee Theatre in Waukegan opens its curtain for the annual Dancecenter North ballet originally composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This legendary story follows a group of family and friends gathered together for a Christmas celebration. Clara, the story’s protagonist, is given a Nutcracker gift from her godfather. When the children go to bed, Clara stays awake and finds herself in the middle of a battle between a slew of mice and toy soldiers – and thus, the magic ensues with the soldiers led by the Nutcracker himself.

Smokey Robinson at Genesee Theatre 

For half a century, William Robinson (a.k.a Smokey) has written, sung and produced renowned contributions to popular music. The Motown vice president has scored a plethora of top 10 hits as a solo artist and as the lead singer of the Miracles. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and was awarded the 2016 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for his lifetime of achievements in the music industry. Robinson tallied three Grammy Awards in his solo career and four as a member of the Miracles. It’s set to be a memorable evening as the sound of Robinson's falsetto resounds through the Genesee speakers.

25th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Waukegan Beach

Waukegan Polar Plunge

Tis the season to be freezin.’ Already Lake County has been hit with a lot of snow and low mercury temps. Kick 2024 off by chilling in the 25th annual Polar Bear Plunge in Waukegan. This Waukegan Municipal Beach event awards a polar plunge shirt to the first 500 brave souls that take a dip in the drink. Water shoes or other footwear are required. Food, hot chocolate and polar bear hats will be sold on site. If you’re not enticed by a frigid hug with Lake Michigan, cheer your friends and family from slightly warmer shores.
