"Of course! Santa. The big man. The head honcho. The connection." Hawthorn Mall has invited Jolly old Kringle to listen to your youngster's laundry lists of toys and games. The Christmas set is themed after the 1983 classic holiday film "A Christmas Story." The man in the red suit will maintain his Hawthorn residency daily through Christmas Eve. Remember to not ask for that Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle, because....well..."you'll shoot your eye out kid." Note - Sensory Santa (Dec. 7) and Santa Paws will also return this year.

"What is this feeling, so sudden and new I felt the moment I laid eyes on you?" Hawthorn hosts a box social for the thrilling finale of dual witch phenomenom "Wicked for Good" at AMC Theatres. FOr the opening of the flick, the Vernon Hills mall invites witches, warlocks, munchkins, scarecrows, tin men, lions, tigers and bears (Oh My), to partake in snapping selfies, sing along at this party. We may get an appearence from Galinda and/or Elpheba.

The mad dash begins the moment you and the family drop the fork on Thanksgiving. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday in Vernon Hills provides visitors with the deals of a lifetime. First 1000 shoppers will receive an exclusive goodie bag with a plethora of special offers. Hawthorn decided to make a party around this day to make the wish list shopping a little less stressful. The bash is higlighted by a DJ spinning your favorite holiday tunes, giveaways and more. Help welcome the holiday season in by assisting Vernon Hills Mayor Roger Byrne, the village, Countryside Fire Protection District, Vernon HIlls Police Department and the Vernon Park District flip the switch to the Christmas tree, and light a flame (bulb) to the menorah and kinara for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa respectively. Visit with the family, the neighbors and the kids as the event offers hot chocolate, cookies and cider. No Manches Mexican Grill will be on hand to offer beverages and snacks while supplies last.
