Harriet at Gorton Center

Harriet tells the powerful true story of Harriet Tubman and her fight to escape slavery and free others.

First, the film introduces Araminta “Minty” Ross, who later becomes Harriet Tubman. She lives under slavery in Maryland. However, she refuses to accept her fate. She dreams of freedom and a better life.

Next, she learns that she may be sold and separated from her family. As a result, she makes a bold decision. She escapes into the night. She runs toward the North, guided by faith and determination.

Then, she reaches freedom in Philadelphia. There, she adopts the name Harriet Tubman. Meanwhile, she realizes her mission is not over. She chooses to return to the South. Consequently, she risks her life to guide others to freedom through the Underground Railroad.

Afterward, Harriet becomes a key conductor. She leads dozens of enslaved people to safety. She uses intelligence, courage, and knowledge of the land. In addition, she outsmarts slave catchers who hunt her.

However, danger grows with each mission. Bounty hunters track her movements. Friends and family face constant threat. Still, Harriet refuses to stop. Her faith and resolve remain strong.

Meanwhile, she builds alliances with abolitionists. She also supports the Union Army during the Civil War. Therefore, her impact expands beyond secret rescues.

Finally, the film shows Harriet as a symbol of resistance and freedom. She helps liberate many lives. Thus, her legacy becomes permanent in American history.

In conclusion, Harriet highlights courage, sacrifice, and relentless hope in the face of oppression.
