Deep Purple with special guest Kansas at Ravinia Festival

There simply aren’t enough superlatives to properly acknowledge the contribution Deep Purple has made to rock music. Having sold more than 100 million albums and filled global arenas for decades, there’s little wonder that the respected British radio station Planet Rock named the group the '5th Most Influential Band Ever’. The band were also presented the ‘Legend Award’ at the 2008 World Music Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. Deep Purple truly are ‘rock royalty’.

Known as one of the hardest working bands ever, Deep Purple was formed in 1968 and has continued to release No.1 albums and tour globally since—with little rest. The past 10 years alone has seen the band achieve over 2 million album sales and 4 consecutive #1’s in Germany for their last 4 studio albums, (all of which have also attained top positions across Europe), impressively underlining that the British legends remain at the forefront of international rock in the new millennium.

They are joined by Kansas a band whose legendary five decade career has firmly established its legacy as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. Since being discovered in 1974, this "garage band" from Topeka has gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide. With a catalogue spanning sixteen studio albums and five live releases, Kansas has earned eight gold albums, three sextuple-platinum albums, and spent more than 200 weeks on the Billboard charts throughout the ’70s and ’80s. The legacy continues to this day: “Carry On Wayward Son” remains one of the five most-played songs on classic rock radio, while “Dust in the Wind” has been broadcast more than three million times.

Together, Deep Purple and Kansas continue to electrify audiences around the globe—proving that these two legendary bands are not just part of rock history, but very much part of its future.
