Description

Throughout our building’s 100 year history, The Shanty Restaurant has been a gathering place for neighborhood locals to eat, drink, and socialize. In the 1960s there were actually more horses than people who lived in our town! As the community of Wadsworth has grown throughout the years, so has The Shanty. In late 2010, with the help of local residents and businesses, The Shanty was reconstructed using local reclaimed barn wood restored from neighborhood farms. In Spring 2018, the Shanty constructed a banquet space, Shanty Towne, to accommodate groups, special events and parties in the beautifully constructed building.

The Shanty was honored to be awarded the Enjoy Illinois Delicious Destination Award from the State of Illinois and has been recognized as one of Illinois' Top Restaurants from the State Tourism Board in Springfield. The Shanty was honored to have been featured on the Food Network's hit show, “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives,” as well as many other national television programs which have highlighted our Whiskey Shrimp, Tequila & Orange Grilled Salmon and our Premium Hand-Cut Aged Steaks!
