Experience a dining concept where great food meets hands-on education at Prairie Restaurant at Brae Loch in Grayslake. Operated by the College of Lake County, Prairie is a student-managed restaurant and state-of-the-art learning lab for CLC’s Hospitality and Culinary Management program. Aspiring chefs, pastry chefs and restaurant managers gain real-world experience both in the kitchen and front of house while serving the Lake County community.
Located at Brae Loch Golf Club, the restaurant features a contemporary dining room overlooking the scenic golf course. Menus rotate based on the courses students are completing, giving diners the opportunity to experience different cuisines, techniques and thoughtfully prepared dishes throughout the year.
During the 2026 summer session, Prairie featured a French Regional dining experience, with weekly menus exploring dishes and flavors from different regions of France. Because Prairie operates as an instructional restaurant, its public dining schedule changes throughout the year and reservations can fill quickly.
Prairie at Brae Loch also offers a unique setting for private, corporate and community events. The dining room accommodates up to 60 guests, while the combined dining room and bar area can accommodate up to 90.
Hours: Vary by semester and culinary program schedule; check the current schedule before visiting.
