Our day at the Base was great, everyone enjoyed the graduation, the speaker was an Admiral and this was his last official duty before he retired. "The Chicago area was chosen by our group principally for its proximity to the last remaining US Navy Recruit Training Depot. Kimberly Ghys at the Lake County CVB was especially helpful and arranged meetings with hotel reps and provided necessary info about the Lake County places of interest, tour providers, etc. She was the go-between for the Naval Training Center. Lake County offers excellent access to many other interests in the area. The hotel rates are competitive and provide free parking ; both airports are within reasonable distance; there are many places to visit - among the best. "It was our pleasure to work with Kimberly Ghys to put together our 20th USS FLOYD B. PARKS DD884 reunions in Lake County, IL at the Hyatt Deerfield Hotel. We are a large group (approx. 225 this year) and it takes special size rooms to accommodate all of us. Kimberly was our first contact as CVB is always the place where we start to scout a location for our reunions. We were absolutely very fortunate to touch base with her right from the start as she took amazing care of us through our entire reunion. When we scouted the Hyatt, Kimberly made sure that we got out about to see the Chicago area, took us to a Navy graduation at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and made sure that we had the names of the people there who would also take care of us. The CVB's are so very important to us and can make or break a reunion. Thanks to Kimberly's concern and attention to details, ours was a huge success. At one point we did hit a rough spot in the planning process but we contacted her and within hours she had it straightened out for us and we were back on the path to building one of the biggest and best reunions we have ever had. Many times the CVBs are very little help but for us this year, we couldn't have done it without Lake County CVB and most especially Kimberly Ghys. She has become like one of our family and we will miss her like crazy now. Thank you so very much for providing such an amazing person for us to work with.
