Naval Station Great Lakes Fourth of July Celebration: The Naval Station Great Lakes Fourth of July Celebration is an event like no other. There is a full lineup of live entertainment that includes the Navy Great Lakes Band and other exceptional acts. Besides the live tunes, the Naval Station Great Lakes event features a Firecracker 5K, family-friendly entertainment, yummy bites, carnival rides, a kid zone, paintball, rock climbing, family bingo, a craft fair and two days of pyrotechnics that light up the lakefront sky. Waukegan History Museum: The Waukegan museum is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Lake County as this historical landmark was erected in 1843. Also known as the Haines House, the Waukegan History Museum was once the home of Chicago’s former Mayor, John C. Haines. Not only does the home feature the appliances and furniture of a house from the 1800s, but it also possesses the bed that Abraham Lincoln slept in during his visit to Lake County.
