Dear Partners and Friends,

As a lifelong Lake County resident, I speak with pride of the remarkable place we call home. It is truly an honor to step into the role of President of Visit Lake County as of May 1, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help both visitors and residents create lasting memories here.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing Lake County from many angles – as a small business owner, a community organization leader, a collaborative marketer, and producer of popular public events. My family has deep roots here, with many friends and tales of years past. I’ve explored and genuinely appreciated the natural spaces connecting us, it’s lively culinary scene and attractions, and the unique character of our cities and villages.

I am excited to bring that perspective to this role and to work with our team in sharing all that makes Lake County special—with a spirit of creativity, fun, and adventure!

We are fortunate to have a progressive Board of Directors and a seasoned, enthusiastic staff. Together, we look forward to continuing to grow Visit Lake County’s regional presence, professionalism, and impact in the years ahead.

We must recognize the incredible leadership of our mentor, Maureen Riedy, who dedicated 22 years to building Visit Lake County into a respected leader in the tourism industry. Her work has left a strong legacy that we are proud to build upon.

During this transition, the VLC Board has made it clear that continuity and stability are priorities. Our partners and communities can feel confident that we will stay on the course that has served us so well. At the same time, this is an opportunity to step back, listen, and look for new ways to improve—whether through evolving programs, new technologies, fresh campaigns, or innovative approaches. Our goal remains simple: to stay ahead of trends and drive meaningful, visitor-focused economic impact for Lake County residents.

At our core, we are a partnership-driven organization. Our success depends on working closely with our communities, businesses, and countywide leadership. We value collaboration, respect, and open dialogue—and we always welcome new ideas and fresh perspectives.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time. I look forward to working together and continuing to build on the foundation that makes Lake County such a special destination.

With gratitude,

John Maguire
