“Love takes off the masks we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within,” – James Baldwin. Show your support and party at the third annual Lake County PrideFest community celebration and fundraiser in Round Lake Beach. The LGBTQIA+ free and family-friendly outdoor festival features live music and performances, food trucks, a beer and beverage tent, craft and artisan vendors, a resource fair, games and entertainment for the youngsters, various drag shows, dancing, and more. The Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center party showcases a variety of local businesses, including The Temporary by American Place of Waukegan, College of Lake County, RISE Mundelein, and Lake County Libation trail partners Light the Lamp Brewery of Grayslake and Black Lung Brewing Co. of Round Lake Beach. The Village of Mundelein is hosting a beach bash and a beer fest, and everyone’s invited. All day Saturday, Mundelein Park District opens the Diamond Lake shoreline for the season as they host Beach Bash, while across town, the village also throws its 10th annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival in collaboration with Tighthead Brewing Co. Zumba, a live DJ, swimming, free boat rentals, an inflatable water slide, food trucks, popsicle and paint, family-friendly beach games and more highlight the Beach Bash on Diamond Lake. At Mundelein Village Hall, over 40 brewpubs serve suds to individuals ages 21 and older. Participating Lake County Libation Trail partners include Black Lung Brewing Co., Bosacki’s Brewery and Tighthead Brewing Co. of Mundelein, Buffalo Creek Brewing of Long Grove, Half Day Brewing Co. of Lincolnshire, Harbor Brewing Co. of Winthrop Harbor, Liquid Love Brewing of Buffalo Grove, Light the Lamp Brewery of Grayslake, Mickey Finn’s Brewery of Libertyville, 9th Hour Brewing Co. of Lake Villa, Phase Three Brewing and Roaring Table of Lake Zurich, Ravinia Brewing of Highland Park and ZümBier of Waukegan. Besides the brews, the festivities include live music, a souvenir glass, bags, and food for purchase from Lake County vendors like La Mera Mera and local legend Bill’s Pizza & Pub. The season’s first race of the Tri-County Tri Series starts this Sunday. The sixth annual Fox Lake Triathlon takes place along the shores of Pistakee Lake. The series begins with a three-day, three-county race that includes a time-trial start due to construction, a 12.5-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run (a 5K) along the roads of Fox Lake. Commemorate Pride Month by stepping off or supporting those on the annual Grayslake Pride Parade. The Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) parade route steps off at Center Street and Slusser Street and runs to Seymour Avenue. Wear your most colorful flags and stand with your LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Richardson Adventure Farm and the Chain O’Lakes host its inaugural B4 Summer Festival. The new pre-summer includes live tunes from Modern Day Romeos, 7th Heaven, and Serendipity, local breweries serving brews, seltzers, and more, nine food trucks, bourbon tasting, and bacon. The Spring Grove farm party is also highlighted by its family-friendly activities, like its 700-foot zipline, the 50-foot observation tower, the jumping pillow, pedal carts, a giant slide, and a playground.
