This weekend, as we say goodbye to July and welcome August, Lake County has a lineup of exciting events fit for the whole family. With classic fair activities, live music, summer pool parties and even a panel of Hallmark Christmas movie stars, there is truly something to do for anyone and everyone in the Land of Lakes. 

Let's take a look at the top five things to do in Lake County this weekend, July 24-26, 2026. 

1. 97th Annual Lake County Fair

It’s that time of year again—the 97th annual Lake County Fair is back, offering five days of family fun, exciting rides, live music and classic fair traditions. Visit the barns to see the cattle, swine, sheep and goats, and don’t miss special livestock events like the Swine Jackpot Show and the Livestock Costume Contest. Thrill-seekers will enjoy high-energy events like Monster Truck Showdown, motocross, the rodeo and the demolition derby. Experience live music throughout your fair visit with musical acts of all genres, from country to rock and roll to pop and everything in between. Breathe in the delicious scent of funnel cakes and corn dogs along Food Truck Alley, where you can find just about anything your taste buds desire. 2. North Chicago COmmunity Days

Celebrate North Chicago Community Days this weekend with one of Lake County's biggest summer festivals. The festivities begin Saturday with a parade, kids zone, a basketball tourney and full weekend of live music, local food vendors, giveaways and a fireworks show. This year's theme, "I'm So Go," is paired with the bilingual message, "Estoy al cien. I'm So Go. Are you?" celebrating the city's energy, confidence and community spirit while inviting residents and visitors alike to join the fun. Learn more at NorthChicago.org.

3. Summer Camp-in at Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge’s Summer Camp-In is back, and time’s running out to take full advantage of this yearly event. Summer Camp-In is an unforgettable adventure, perfect for the whole family. 4. Fox Lake Friday Night Live: Masquerade on the Chain

Let the good times roll at Fox Lake Friday Night Live! This week celebrates the festive style of New Orleans as Hurricane Gumbo performs their blend of jazz, rock and zydeco music. Transport to Mardi Gras with this lively and colorful presentation by the Chicago-based eight-piece band, whose sound can only be described as “Louisiana party music.” Grab your beads and dress up for this energetic celebration. 5. Hallmark Stars at Genesee Theatre

Join in on this intimate, interactive event as actors Andrew Walker, Ashley Williams, Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell answer burning questions from fans, tell behind-the-scenes stories and share a glimpse into their lives after the cameras stop rolling. With host Nikki DeLoach, fan-favorite and star of over 20 Hallmark movies, this evening promises a unique experience filled with fun, spontaneous moments while you uncover everything there is to know about Hallmark’s most popular Christmas movies.
