The City of Highland Park’s annual Arbor Day Celebration takes place on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event features dozens of exhibits, demonstrations and giveaways focused on home and garden improvement. Activities include plant and tree giveaways, a tree planting demonstration and Q and A session, a meet and greet with birds of prey hosted by Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education, bicycle recycling with Working Bikes, a touch-a-truck exhibit, insect safety activities for kids courtesy of the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District, an electric vehicle showcase and information on backyard chickens. The event is pet friendly and welcomes well-behaved, leashed dogs.
