The Citadel Theatre recently received the designation of "Jeff Recommended" as the Lake Forest equity theatre's "The Christian" achieved the nod. The story follows Pastor Paul, a 20-year clergyman who has grown his small brick-and-mortar parish into a mega church. The aforementioned charismatic protagonist of the production feels there is a flaw in the congregation's faith when the pastor recites his homily. The play follows the relationship between practicing what you preach and an intriguing take on the modern-day United States. No matter what sector you practice, the presentation dips into a provocative and nonpartisan debate based on a book with the same title written by Lucas Hnath in 2015. The Citadel Theatre stages "The Christians" for three more days, as the show closes on March 12. For tickets, visit CitadelTheatre.org.
Friday-Sunday, March 10-12; Fri. and Sat.: 7:30 p.m., Sun.: 3 p.m. Tickets: $43-$48. Citadel Theatre, 300 Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest.
