1. Mundelien Community Days

Get ready to celebrate the best of Mundelein at the highly anticipated Community Days from July 4-7. The Independence Day party is highlighted by thrill rides for the kids, live performances, delectable eats and so much more.  On July 5, enjoy performances by the Park District Dancers and The Four C Notes, along with carnival and fire engine rides, ending with a show by Libido Funk Circus. July 6 offers a pet parade, horseshoe tournaments and family activities like Dave DiNaso's Traveling World of Reptiles and more. Saturday concludes with performances by Mellencougar and Mike & Joe. The final day, July 7, features a pancake breakfast, the Mundelein Community Days Parade and more, wrapping up with a performance by 7th Heaven. 2. Lincolnshire Art Festival

Visit Lake County for a weekend of art, music and fun at the Lincolnshire Art Festival. With over 80 talented artists showcasing their work, there’s plenty to explore and admire. From paintings and sculptures to jewelry and crafts, the variety of art on display promises something for everyone. The kids' art zone is a must-visit for families. Children can participate in art fest bingo, sand sculpture and more. The kid-friendly art tent and live art demo signs provide opportunities for interactive experiences with the artists. 3. 15th Annual Dog Days of Summer in Libertyville

A tail-wagging good time is in order at Libertyville's Dog Days of Summer, held from July 5-7. The Dog Days of Summer event features exciting competitions where dogs can showcase their skills and athleticism. The Big Air Wave competitions will see dogs leaping into the water to achieve the longest jump. The Extreme Vertical Competition on Saturday tests how high dogs can jump to grab a toy. Attendees can participate in "Try DockDogs" sessions, giving their pets a taste of the action. The Cook Park event also features a food court, a K-9 Demo with Drako of the Lake County Sheriff Department, yoga with your doggo and a pet parade. 4. Opening Weekend at Bristol Renaissance Faire

The Bristol Renaissance Faire invites visitors to a 30-acre realm of historical fantasy every weekend this summer. Located near the Illinois-Wisconsin border, the Faire features 16 stages with diverse performances, including fully armored jousters, the Queen's court, street entertainers and more. Artisans showcase various crafts, from jewelry and pottery to leather goods and intricate weaponry. Visitors can indulge in delectable foods and fine spirits, from hearty turkey legs and savory pies to sweet treats. Experience traditional tunes on lutes, harps, and other 16th-century instruments, creating an enchanting atmosphere. 5. July 4th Fireworks at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee
