1. Six Flags Great America Opening Weekend in Gurnee

Six Flags Great America is gearing up for its new season opening on April 20, promising thrills for all ages. The Gurnee amusement park features 15 roller coasters, dozens of other thrill rides, exceptional themes from DC Comics and Looney Tunes, delicious eats, captivating live shows and more. One of the most thrilling highlights of the upcoming season is the debut of the park’s newest attraction, Sky Striker. Standing tall at a towering height of 172 feet, this pendulum ride promises to elevate the park experience to new heights. It's the park's first major ride addition since 2021, nestled next to the American Eagle roller coaster queue, will open this spring. Whether it's soaring through the stars on Sky Striker or embarking on classic favorites, this season promises an unforgettable adventure for all who dare to step through the gates of this beloved amusement park. 2. Fear No Art Festival at College of Lake County in Grayslake

Experience the journey of three couples as they face the joys and challenges of impending parenthood in "Baby" at the Citadel Theatre. Directed by Scott Shallenbarger, the play brings notable Czech Republic New York University professor, playwright and author Sybille Pearson's book to life with music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. Set on a university campus, “Baby” explores three universal experiences of pregnancy: a college couple, a 30-something-year-old-relationship enduring fertility issues and a middle-aged duet with a college graduate and a new little one on the way. As the Citadel Theatre continues its tradition of delivering engaging and thought-provoking productions, “Baby” stands as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling. Don’t miss your chance to experience the laughter, tears and triumph of the human spirit during Citadel Theatre’s “Baby”. The Lake Forest show runs on select days through May 19. Every year the James Lumber Center gives us a slew of eye-opening performances from the Fear No Art Festival. This year is no different, as the Grayslake Art Festival has featured unbelievable talent for over two decades at the College of Lake County. This lively festival features a variety of artists performing music, dance, and poetry. 4. Par-King Open for the Season in Lincolnshire

Get ready to tee off at Lake County’s premier miniature golf destination as Par-King Skill Golf in Lincolnshire swings back into action for the season. Experience a unique blend of challenge and fun on this iconic course, boasting two 18-hole courses, 19 moving obstacles and seven waterholes. Renowned for its innovative design and scenic landscapes, Par-King Skill Golf has garnered praise from top publications like the Travel Channel, the Daily Herald, Golf Digest, the Chicago Sun-Times and USA Today. Open daily until October, Par-King Skill Golf invites golf enthusiasts and novices alike to test their skills on its meticulously crafted greens. Just remember to bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted. Additionally, please note that children must be at least 48 inches tall to join the fun.

5. Eddie Barbash and the KASA Quartet at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park

Experience the fusion of jazz and strings as Eddie Barbash and the KASA Quartet take the stage at Bennett Gordon Hall, Ravinia Festival. Combining the timeless tradition of jazz with the rich textures of string instruments, Eddie Barbash and the KASA Quartet promises to rejuvenate familiar melodies with captivating improvisations. Barbash is a former member of Jon Batiste and Stay Human – the live musical act for “The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert.” Drawing from diverse musical influences, they traverse genres and cultures, honoring timeless melodies by iconic composers, such as Duke Ellington, Claude Debussy and more.
