Food and beverage pairings have become a culinary staple that foodies from all over seek out the most unique combinations. Whether it's wine and cheese, beer and burgers or cookies and cocktails, the possibilities are endless. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all delicious.
Don't end up like George Costanza, and use this guide to wet your whistle along the Libation Trail during Lake County Restaurant Rally. The Libertyville Irish pub and brewery is Lake County's first craft brewhouse. The Lake County Libation Trail participant is open during these trying times with a little taste of normalcy. Besides their world-class brews, the brewpub is known for its burgers, wings and chopped salad. Check out their A Tribe Called Quest themed Can I Kick It IPA, their Pineapple Express Double IPA, Cerveza Lager and collection of other inspired brews (maybe take some home with you too).
The Harbor Brewing Co., in partnership with North Point Marina, opened Lake County's first beer garden as Phase 3 commences May 29. This ongoing event entitled the Lakefront Biergarten will be open from noon to midnight. The Winthrop Harbor microbrewery produces adventurous ales. The Lake County suds maker is also highlighted by a taproom, beercade and live music. Since 2018, Habor Brewing has taken innovative flavors and created exceptional libations. The Lake Michigan bordering brewhouse offers 12 different potables on tap like their Special K Milkshake IPA (a libation of the month in April 2019), No Wrong Way Peanut Butter Cup Porter, the Prizm Sours Series and much more.

This downtown Grayslake pub serves innovative brews, modern American cuisine, locally-sourced craft spirits and top-notch draft wines all handcrafted in-house. Light the Lamp has 14 craft suds drafts created internally. For those who aren't beer lovers, the seven-year-old Grayslake brewpub also offers tap wine. Besides libations, the hockey-themed also offers unique meals, including burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, shared plates and desserts. Some of Light the Lamp's signature suds include the Red Line Ale (amber ale), Sin Bout Stout (oatmeal stout) and the 1980 Miracle American Pale Ale Kick back, relax and let that lettuce down.

North Shore Distillery is the first craft distillery in the land of Lincoln. Since 2004, Derek and Sonja Kassebaum (and their larger than life friend Ethel) provide vodkas, rums, gins, absinthes and unique seasonal beverages. The self-proclaimed nerds and Illinois-Made inventors love to experiment on new flavors with a plethora of different ingredients, and that's why the award-winning Green Oaks distillery designs innovative art with their liquid creations. Their seasonal spirit for the last two years has been exceptional curaçaos. The 2019-20 release is Cocoa Curaçao. The beverage was infused and distilled with an array of orange peels. This spirit has rich yet refined aromas of orange and chocolate, with intriguing, layered flavors of bright orange with deep chocolate undertones. It is sweet, yet balanced and extremely sippable.
The Highland Park brewery features a variety of beers in addition to Mexican street fare like tacos, burritos, salads and more. Your tasty Tuesday is now paired with brew and southwest cuisine. The brewpub was recognized for the "Best Beer Garden" by the North Shore Choice Awards. A collection of their trademark libations includes the Flight of the Rooster Saison, the Steep Ravine IPA and the Baldwin Porter.
Offering a casual dining experience that is exceptional is Wright's Brew and Bistro, located inside the Lincolnshire Marriott. The Lincolnshire bar and restaurant provides the honey to Five Eyes Honey Ale that is brewed by other Lake County Libation Trail partner, Tighthead Brewery in Mundelein. In the eats department, Wright's serves traditional Midwest comfort food with a modern twist of spices.
