Black Violin at Genesee Theatre

Rescheduled from November 2020.

Black Violin returns to The Genesee, showing that traditional instruments can blend beautifully with modern beats and tones.

Joined onstage by a live drummer and DJ, musicians Kev Marcus (violin) and Wil B (viola) skillfully blur the lines between hip-hop and classical music, creating a sound that's all their own.

The duo's popularity took off after winning Showtime at the Apollo in 2005. Since then, they've appeared on The Tonight Show, Ellen and the Billboard Music Awards (with Alicia Keys), performed two sold-out shows at the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra and collaborated creatively with the likes of Kanye West, Tom Petty and Aerosmith.

Their latest album, Take the Stairs, debuted at #1 on Billboard's Classical and Classical Crossover charts.

These talented musicians show that, like people, music is enriched by diversity. Their inspiring musical mash-ups will lift everyone out of their seats in celebration of hope and unity.

Make it a getaway!  Suggested dinner beforehand - Big Ed's BBQ, local brews at Nightshade and Dark's Pandemonium Brewing Co. afterward and the Hampton Inn, Waukegan for a good night's sleep!
