Enjoying the Frights...

(Last Updated: September 9, 2019)

FRIGHT FEST 2019 : Chicago's Most Terrifying Halloween Event | Six Flags Great America

"Darkness falls across the land. The midnight hour is close at hand. Creatures crawl in search of blood, to terrorize y'alls neighborhood."

Six Flags Great America's Fright Fest presented by SNICKERS® has returned. Crypts, ghouls, zombies and everything else Halloween takes over the Gurnee amusement park on select days from September 14-November 3.

The park is run by a satanic creature named Nox who vows to scare the living daylights out of you. Nox and his creepy band of gruesome creatures have awoken from their three-season snooze, and they show no mercy.

The best way to experience Fright Fest is with a season pass or memberships. With a season pass or membership, get unlimited access to Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park (running November 23-December 31), as well as all of the 2020 season. To purchase a season pass or membership, or for more ticket information, please visit

Guests can also purchase haunted house wristbands. A haunted house wristband grants entry to all six haunted houses, including the all-new 13th Order and Infected. Wristbands can be purchased online or at various retail locations throughout the park.

Thrills By Day, Frights By Night

The night time is the fright time. From park opening until 6 p.m., Six Flags Great America is all smiles and pumpkins. Once the clock strikes 6 p.m., there are no more friendly ghosts. Zombies, clowns and other ghouls roam the park just waiting for the right moment to terrify you and your friends. Ride all of the Six Flags coasters and be prepared to be joined by a ghoul. This eight-week event features 17 thrilling coasters, eight spooktacular shows, six haunted houses and so much more. You must experience the spooky twist the Gurnee amusement park put in rides like Giant Drop, Revolution, Rue le Dodge and Terror Twister 2: Turn for the Worse.

Haunted Houses

13th Order - NEW FOR 2019

Deep within these woods lies the dark secrets of a malicious society in search of the next chapter. If you can survive all 13 levels of carnage, you'll be wondering if you should join.

This facility has evil growing inside, searching for a new host. Can you escape the all-new underground laboratory of twisted halls and covert experiments without being infected?

Big Top Terror

Located in the County Fair - this house is no laughing matter. Take a stroll (or a brisk walk if you dare) through this insane circus. Big Top Terror sponsored by M&M's may seem like fun and games, but terror awaits.

Situated in the Southwest Territory where scary creatures like the Viper and Raging Bull play, is home to the creepy crawlers. Infestation is where your primitive fears live - those of rats, snakes and insects. Be careful, or you may become infected.

Gates of Hell

The Gates of Hell is the home of Nox, ruler of Fright Fest. He has placed his most tortured souls here and challenged them with the task of capturing more souls for his collection. It all takes a turn for the worst in the House of Terror. Enter the Gates of Hell and brace yourself for Fright Fest's largest haunt!

Massacre Medical Center

The most contagious patients start to rebel against their staff. The doctors, medical staff and security guards did as much as they could to stop these patients, but they are held in captivity. It's a dark time in this hospital, and you have to walk through the aftermath.

Manslaughter Manor

This manor tucked away in the Southwest Hills has a reputation for being cursed. While the house was being built in the late 1960s, there was a ceiling collapse that killed a workman and his apprentice. Their bodies were never found. Since the manor was erected, numerous people have lost their lives in this house. Join investigators to try and see if the house is haunted or cursed.

Live Entertainment

Never before has Six Flags offered so many different live performances during Fright Fest. These shows will leave you howling for more.

Scare Zones

After 6 p.m., there is no such thing as a leisurely stroll as the terror isn't confined to the haunted attractions. Ghouls are spread all over the Gurnee amusement park to creep and 'greet' you. Here is a list of the scare zones and their locations. Watch your six!

During Fright Fest, these usually tamed rides come out and show their true colors. Here's a list of the rides that have been transformed for the Gurnee fest.

Roaring Rapids, Sky Trek Tower, Yankee Clipper, Loggers Run, Buccaneer Battle and Scenic Railway will not operate during Fright Fest.
