After stuffing your bellies, partake in an outdoor adventure, lace up your sneakers, laugh your butt off and head Lake County's largest amusement park for food and thrills.

Here's this weekends edition of the top five things to do in Lake County, May 21-23, 2021.

This weekend marks the final days to savor exceptional eats and take advantage of specials offers during Lake County Restaurant Week. The delectable foodie event is the perfect opportunity to explore new places to dine or enjoy old favorites. Many of the participating eateries will be offering either a pre-fixe menu or an exclusive restaurant week dining offer. This 10-day event features over 60 land of lakes restaurants. The fare holiday only happens once a year, so make your reservations early. Unique cuisine lovers have the opportunity to win various prizes, while supporting Lake County local restaurants. Text "SAVOR" to 224-706-1133 to check-in at three or more participating dining locations, and enter to win an overnight stay at Lincolnshire Marriott Resort which includes a golf package at Crane's Landing Golf Course. 2. Camping at Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort

Plan an adventurous outdoor staycation right here in Lake County. Fish Lake Beach Camping Resort is open for campers and glampers alike! 3. Loop the Lakes 5K Run/Walk in Vernon Hills

Runners and walkers are invited to lace up their sneakers in Vernon Hills at the Loop the Lakes 5K Run/Walk. Support the Vernon Hills Scholarship Program as you race in Century Park around Big Bear and Little Bear Lake. Jog through the inclines and small hills while appreciating the beautiful sights and sounds of nature at the Vernon Hills park. To be mindful of social distancing, the Lake County park district provided two race start times. The two races begin at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and each participant will receive a t-shirt.The top three overall female and male dashers and winners from each age group will receive awards. Quench your thirst with post-race drinks and snacks after finishing like a champion. Register for the Vernon Hills 5K at www.VHParkDistrict.org. The Vernon Hills Park District encourages all participants and spectators to practice social distancing, and to wear a mask for the event’s entirety.

4. Improv Playhouse Comedy Shows in Libertyville

Libertyville’s Improv Playhouse is back for adult-rated laughs and family friendly fun! For over two decades, the downtown staple has provided the land of lakes stand-up comedy, musical theater, improvisation and acting classes thespians young and old.  The MainStreet Libertyville presentation is staging two shows this weekend: one for families at 7:30 p.m. and the adult show at 9:30 p.m. This show is BYOB and BYOM (Bring Your Own Mask). If you love a good joke, you will be amused by the entertainment offered at this Improv Comedy show. Tickets for the show can be purchased online through EventBrite and GroupOn at www.ImprovPlayhouse.com or for cash only at the door. For those ages 21 and older bringing alcoholic beverages, a $5 corking fee will be implemented to each individual drinking.

5. Six Flag Great America Food Festival

Fall in love at first bite during the final weekend of the Taste of Six Flags Great America Food Festival this season. The Gurnee foodie celebration offers delicious fare inspired by both the East and West Coasts, the Midwest, Texas, Jamaica and other international eats. For the adult thrill seekers ages 21 and older, taste the brews of Six Flags at their beer trailer. Work up your appetite and take a ride on any of the park’s 17 coasters. Reservations for park access must be made in advance online at SixFlags.com/GreatAmerica. The specialty food and beverage items at the food festival will require an additional punch card purchase, and each card comes with 12 credits. Limited reservations are available this weekend.
