Take a trip to the Sunshine State, putt your way to victory, sip spirits in honor of summer, channel your inner Jean-Michel Basquiat or have a meet and greet with some furry, scaley or feathery creatures.
Maybe let papa bear tag along in the process since it's his honorary day of the year. Here are your top things to do this weekend June 19-21
Travel to the Key West right now might not be on the radar of most with the effects of the public health crisis. The Sunshine State trip can be put on hold for the time being, because Blarney Island brings the Key West to the Midwest. This party is highlighted by parties with the Thunder on the Chain boat races on Thursday, drinking down a cold with the pals (while maintaining social distancing restrictions), live entertainment like John Solinski, Wapatui, Mr. Meyers and other island festivities. Let's not forget you can score a boat ride out to the party on the chain if you don't have a boat for $10.

"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” - Thomas Merton. While you're spending more time at home to ride out the pandemic, now is the time to explore your inner art masonry...with chalk. Lake Zurich calls all creators to design their own chalk masterpiece throughout the summer. Take a picture of your driveway chalk sketch and post to the Lake County village's Facebook page. This weekend's theme through June 20 is Disney Week, while starting June 21 and running through June 27 is favorite fare or restaurant. Two Lake Zurich residents will win a small prize and judged anonymously. The Chalk Art Contest (only open to Lake Zurich dwellers) runs through August 8.
