Fall in Lake County is unbeatable, and we spend a lot of our time during this wonderful season at Richardson Adventure Farm & Corn Maze in Spring Grove. Fall in love with your favorite season all over again during the Vernon Hills Summer Celebration 2017. Have a bite to eat, experience the thrills on a carnival ride, sing your heart out in karaoke and enjoy an abundance of live entertainment from Toad the Wet Sprocket, the 90s chart-topping Verve Pipe, as well as Mike & Joe, Henneberry and Hello Weekend. Gaze upon nostalgic vehicles at the car & bike show on Saturday and compete in the bags tournament on Sunday.

This trio of performers performing at Ravinia Festival will be a treat. OneRepublic is known for hits such as ‘Apologize,’ Fitz & the Tantrums, known for ‘Don’t Gotta Work it Out,’ and the season nine winner of the FOX show ‘The X Factor’ James Arthur are performing for two nights on the Highland Park stage. OneRepublic was nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal Grammy Award in 2009 for their aforementioned hit single. Don’t forget to check out the Virtual Orchestra at the Ravinia Tent on the North Lawn featured until July 23.

Finding time to exercise can be difficult, especially when you have children. A trot with the family could be a fitness funtivity for everyone to enjoy. Lace up your shoes as runner enthusiasts compete in Grayslake’s Annual 5K Family Fun Run. Runners, walkers, strollers and wheelchair athletes of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. The race begins at 8 a.m. while the children’s race starts at 7:30 a.m. Race day registration opens at 6:30 a.m. Kids Fun Run finishers will receive shirts, ribbons and refreshments.

Experience a variety of locally grown, delectable ripe fruits and vegetables at Didier Farms as they open their doors for the season. The fare offered at the Lincolnshire stand is picked daily. This unique stand features cider, apples, honey, freshly-baked pies, old-fashioned candies, gourmet soups, loaves of bread, jellies, preserves and so much more. The farm stand is open daily until October 31.

'Campout families sing this song, doo-da, doo-da.' Make this weekend a family affair at the 12th Annual Family Campout in Deerfield. The Deerfield Park District provides a movie in the park, activities, games, sports equipment and grills. Families may bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to this free event. Stop by the Maplewood Park Pavilion to register and receive a campsite number. Don't forget your tent and sleeping bags.

Everyone knows the epic '1812 Overture.' The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is performing their Pyotr Ilyich "Tchaikovsky Spectacular." This version of the '1812 Overture' (formerly known as Opus 49) will have cannon fire during the climax of the renowned tune. The concert honoring the Russian composer also includes the following selections: 'Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture,' 'Piano Concerto No. 1' and 'Francesca da Rimini.' Dima Slobodeniouk will conduct the CSO and Simon Trpčeski accompanies the orchestra on piano.
