Starting to think about your fall plantings??? Plant NATIVE plants to create a bird-friendly sanctuary in your own yard. McHenry County Audubon member Lisa Maier has been naturalizing her quarter-acre suburban back yard for six years and the efforts are paying off. She h as documented 96 species of birds that have found food, shelter and/or water in her small McHenry yard. Utilizing native forbs, shrubs and trees, she has attracted seed-eaters, berry eaters, insectivores and raptors too. There’s a complex web of life that can be woven in our home landscapes and every little bit helps! Come learn how Lisa has done it and take home tips for your own landscaping.
