North Point Marina in Winthrop Harbor is one of the largest marinas on the Great Lakes. This massive marina boasts 1,500 slips, 10 launch ramps, water trail access, boat storage, a fishing pier, beach front, and multiple benefits of renting a slip.
Recently, North Point Marina has switched management. After taking a hit during the 2008 housing market crash, this marina had difficulty recovering. With minimal income and decreasing clients, the Marina switched from the management of the Illinois Department of Natural resources to the private hands Westrec. Westrec has a great amount of experience in managing marinas as they manage ten marinas for the Chicago Park District and many more around the nation. Westrec has plans for a convenience store, a hotel, a pool, a picnic pavilion, and will also refurbish the docks. With this all in order, the Marina will be properly revived.
Renting a Slip
Renting a slip for the season comes with many amenities. With a “One Price” system, you can expect the best benefits which include: electricity, water, dock lockers, free WiFi, sanitary pump outs, TV hook up, onsite security, fuel pumps, showers, restricted parking and restrooms. It even has charter boats and a restaurant! These slips can accommodate 30’ boats to 60’ boats making it easy for any kind of sailor.
