Mardi Gras in Lake County
By: Jonathan Jones 02/17/2015
It’s that time of year to let the good times roll.

Unhitch that belt buckle because it’s time to party for Fat Tuesday New Orleans style in
Lake County. Sure you can’t experience Bourbon Street in the Big Easy (and with the way the weather has been all winter, we all wish we could), but you can get a healthy taste Mardi Gras: the Lake County version. Come on out tonight and let’s celebrate by stuffing our faces with delicious
Lake County eats and drinks!
KeyLime Cove in
Gurnee offers food, drinks and a place for you to lay your head down after you’ve eaten all you can. The packages that
KeyLime Cove provide includes admission to Lost Paradise Indoor Waterpark, overnight accommodations in a Queen Deluxe Stateroom and live entertainment. The live performance from Banjo Buddies Dixieland Quartet is sure to get you and your family off your feet. For the kids, the Strolling Magic Show starts at 5:30. Kid’s entertainment also includes face painting, arts and crafts, tilt walkers, a mime, a juggling show and more. There’s no Mardi Gras without a parade! At 8 pm the Sunset Festival Mardi Gras Parade begins and immediately following is the Energy Productions Dance Party from 9 – 11 pm. The
KeyLime Cove package stretches until March 4.
With Fat Tuesday being so early in the week,

some can’t get out and enjoy the fruits of the holiday due it being a school night (or work night). You can still fulfill your belly’s needs with some Louisiana style cooking at
Lindy’s Landing in
Wauconda. From today till Saturday February 21 you can enjoy Lindy’s Mardi Gras menu that includes gator bites, gumbo, catfish fingers, Cajun style po’ bouy, bread pudding, paczkis and much more!
Today’s the last day you can check out the specials that
Savanna House has to offer. From lunch to dinner, the Savanna House in Wadsworth boasts their Mardi Gras deals like the Bourbon Street Platters for $16.95 that includes corn bread and king cake. Gumbo and hurricanes are also on special. In the evening you can bask in the atmosphere as Shannon Delacey Jazz graces the stage.
Giving up a vice for lent? Celebrate it the right way at
Potawatomi. The Milwaukee casino includes Cajun food, hurricanes, beats, showgirls, parades, strolling bands, (not to mention a little gambling).
Prepare for your ‘fasting,’ the right way, by giving one of these Lake County events a go. Laissez les bon temps roulez en Lake County!
