The Annual Chain O' Lakes Fishing Derby and Winter Festival at Turtle Beach Marina in Antioch, has been a cherished tradition for six decades. Not only is it the longest continuously run winter event in the State of Illinois, but it has also become a major fundraiser for the Chain O' Lakes community. Beyond the thrill of ice fishing, the festival serves as a heartwarming gathering that brings families together for some good old-fashioned winter fun. Spanning three generations of fishermen and fisherwomen, the event has become a tradition for many. Families and friends are encouraged to join in the festivities, which include raffles and games for both children and adults, weather permitting. This year, fish judging and food offerings will be housed inside a tent, creating a cozy atmosphere for participants. Spectators can watch as fishermen register their catches, vying for prizes in categories like the smallest or largest fish. And when appetites kick in, the Conservation Café promises plenty of delicious fare to satisfy hungry festival-goers.
