Lake County Campgrounds
The great outdoors are waiting for you...

Experience the great outdoors and natural beauty at one of the area's campgrounds. Set up camp near Lake Michigan or in the middle of a state park, either way you will feel like you are miles away from your everyday life.

A full range of recreational opportunities complement the expansive shoreline of Illinois Beach State Park. Stretching leisurely for 6 and a half miles along the sandy shore of Lake Michigan in Northern Illinois, Illinois Beach State Park encompasses the only remaining beach ridge shoreline left in the state. The park features a 244 campground sites with electricity and access to showers and facilities. You must obtain a camping permit from the park staff before settling in. The 4,160 acre state park offers ample opportunities for swimming, boating, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and just appreciating nature.

Located in the Northwest corner of Lake County, Chain O’Lakes State Park is a water-orientated recreation area with outstanding opportunities for boaters, anglers and skiers. The park boarders three natural lakes – Grass, Marie and Nippersink – and the Fox River that connects the other 7 lakes (Bluff, Fox, Pistakee, Channel, Petite, Catherine and Redhead) that make up the chain. Besides picnicking, miles of trails, horseback riding, boating and fishing, the state park has a class A campground with 150 sites, electricity, disposal stations and facilities. The class B campground at the park has 87 sites that have water, vault facilities and access to showers. The park accepts advance reservations for approximately 25 percent of its camping sites. If you are a novice camper, the park has 2 Rent-A-Camp units available that come with a tent or cabin, cots, charcoal grill, fire ring and picnic table. With access to nearly 6,500 acres of water and 488 miles of shoreline on the chain, Chain O’Lakes State Park is the heart of a water wonderland.

Fish Lake Beach Campground, located in Volo, IL and 40 miles north of Chicago, is a family owned and operated campground since 1939. This campground features an 85 acre spring fed lake with 2 fishing piers, a large beach with swimming area, playground, rowboats and paddle boats, swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts and recreation center. The campground is open May 1 – October 15.
