Vote Goliath for Boldest Coaster

Guess what’s coming up? On August 16, it is National Coaster Day. You know very well, that Six Flags Great America  in Gurnee will be front and center in Illinois in celebrating the national holiday.

Earlier this year the ultimate coaster at Great America was crowned as king of wooden rides by the Guinness Book of World Records.  That roller coaster is Goliath.

The height of the ride was confirmed as the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest wooden roller coaster at 54.86 meters or 180 feet. The incline of the steep drop is actually an 85.13 degree angle. The speed of the train when loaded by officials the train clocked in at a speedy 71.89 mph (or 115.7 kmph).

All season, Six Flags has celebrated 40 seasons of their gates being open and are honoring that with giving patrons a two for one opportunity. In the last hour of operation, you can ride a ride twice in a row! This week happens to be Goliath’s turn up until August 9.
