The Lake County Forest Preserves has more than 20 different exciting activities for people of all ages. Kids can go camping, swimming in crystal clear water with 400 feet of sand or take an adventurous hike in the woods. Adults can go cross country skiing, dog sledding, bird watching, horseback riding or play a round of golf. Some of the activities require a permit, so please check through their website to see if you will need one. Even dogs have their own place to run. These are only some of the activities the Forest Preserve offers for kids and adults.
There are many different Forest Preserves to choose from. I would advise you to look through them when you are ready for a specific activity. Some of the different locations are Independence Grove, Fox River Marina, Lake County Discovery Museum, Greenbelt Cultural Center, Rollins Savanna, Van Patton Woods and last but not least Ryerson Conservation Area.
