Lake County’s favorite winter sport destination celebrates its 80th anniversary this Saturday. Take a trip to Wilmot Mountain and help commemorate the premier ski and snowboard location of the Midwest. This all-day, family-friendly celebration features a fireworks display, ice sculpting, live music, cake cutting, giveaways and more. There is no admission fee to join the celebration, though typical lift and other fees are applicable.

Shake off the winter blues at Carmel Catholic High School’s Street Scenes: Goes Tropical this weekend. The Mundelein high school is transformed into a tropical oasis atmosphere. The event features over 50 live bands, dozens of delicious local Lake County food vendors, popular casino games, the famous student show and more.
Visit Lambs Farm on Saturday for Sweets for Sweetie, a Valentine’s Day-themed event for the whole family. Guests can decorate sweet treats in a beautifully packaged container and personalize a Valentine’s Day card for the upcoming holiday. The Magnolia Café offers an optional breakfast and lunch buffet featuring a full-lunch menu. This is a free admission event. Other activities cost extra.
Visit the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan this Saturday as Dennis DeYoung, a founding member of the rock band Styx, takes the stage. DeYoung presents a special “Grand Illusion 40th Anniversary Album Tour” plus all of the band’s greatest hits. The Chicago-based band produced 16 top-40 singles in their 40-year tenure and recorded four consecutive multi-platinum albums.
Bring your friends and family to Antioch this weekend to enjoy some old-fashioned winter fun at the 58th Annual Chain O’ Lakes Ice Fishing Derby and Winter Festival. Enjoy the carnival atmosphere highlighted by raffles, auctions and games for all ages. Visitors can register to fish for hourly prizes competing in the smallest or largest catch categories. The event that is one of th oldest and continuous festivals in Illinois also features an ice shanty contest, delicious bites and so much more.
