The holiday season came upon us quicker than any of us could say 'trick or treat'. For many of us, it's the last weekend before a long trip, a gut-busting, 'calorie-free' Thanksgiving meal and time spent with family and in-laws.
With all of that in mind, Lake County offers multiple events and activities this weekend to distract you from thinking about all of those Thanksgiving plans.

Here are the top things to do this weekend, November 17-19.
For one final weekend, the amazing feel, smell and taste of fall will be brought to Six Flags Great America for the Last Call Fall Festival. Dozens of options for craft beer and food will be available for purchase inside of the park. Rides, entertainment and more welcome attendees with normal admission. The monsters and scares may have left, but the fun and thrill have not.

Oenophiles and chocoholics rejoice! Antioch is hosting a Champagne and Chocolate Walk to begin the holiday season. Stroll through Antioch’s quaint Downtown as you indulge in this magnificent pair while viewing the town’s holiday theme. Attendees receive a keepsake champagne flute, a coupon for a complimentary bottle of champagne and a bag to carry the delectable treats in.

Before his big trip, Santa Claus is set to land his sleigh at Hawthorn Mall. Santa can be spotted riding around the upper level on the trackless train with the Hawthorn Rockettes. After his arrival, Santa will be available for pictures with the kids. Photos with Santa can be adorable and/or hilarious, and will surely make a lasting memory, or a good joke when the kids become teenagers.

Based on the popular book by Charles Dickens, the family-favorite brings all of the cherished characters and themes to life through an original score and the magic of song and dance.
