Friday is nearing, the top things to do this weekend July 24-26 has enormous potential to be legendary.

Whether you're ready to splish splash, vote who's the best of the best, savor eats and drinks while toe-tapping, peruse the market in the downtown area or race like you're in the marines, the weekend is upon us.

Here are your top five things to do this weekend July 24-26.

1. Hurricane Harbor in Gurnee Opening Weekend

Take a dip in the drink, recline, relax and experience all the thrills at Hurricane Harbor. The splash zone has reopened to pass holders and members. The H2O haven is equipped with numerous waterslides, the main swimming area called Monsoon Lagoon, a kid zone play area that utterly soaks attendees, an interactive surf area and so much more. 2. 2020 Lake County Fair Virtual Competition in Grayslake

Due to the health concerns revolving around the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lake County Fair has canceled their season. However, the Grayslake grounds will host its inaugural 2020 Lake County Fair Competition. The competition will range from awards for “Best Garden,” “Best Flower & Arrangements,” “Best Visual Arts,” “Best Crafts,” Best Photography,” “Best Textile,” “Best Culinary,” “Best Youth Collection” and other subcategories. Login to your device and vote for your favorite submissions. Voting runs through Thursday, July 30, and the winners will be announced Friday, July 31.

Friday-Sunday, July 24-26. Virtual competition. Lake County Fairgrounds & Event Center, 1060 E. Peterson Rd., Grayslake.

3. Ravinia District Live Music in Highland Park

The summertime is all about listening to live music. While the novel coronavirus has canceled many performances in Highland Park, including the renowned Ravinia Festival, the southeastern Lake County city hosts live music in the shared outdoor dining space along Roger Williams, Burton and Pleasant Avenues. This week’s performance in Ravinia District Al Fresco Dining and Live Music event features Handsome Man Gentlemen’s Club and Anderlik, Otto & Church. The fare and tune affair runs on weekends through August 29.

Saturday-Sunday, July 25-26; Sat.: 6-8:30 p.m., Sun.: 3-6 p.m. Ravinia District of Highland Park, between Green Bay and Sheridan Roads on Roger Williams Avenue.

4. Antioch Street Market

“Summer’s here and the time is right, for dancing in the street.” Martha and the Vandellas may not be able to join, but you can scour through  Antioch Street Fair’s goods in the village’s downtown. The market offers a variety of items from rural, urban and local street fairs. This monthly event occurs on the last Sunday through September 27.

Sunday, July 26; 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Antioch Street Market, 900 Skidmore Dr., Antioch.

5. Savage Race & Savage Blitz at Richardson Farm in Spring Grove

These racers got all the muscles. Savage Race is one of the most competitive obstacle courses in the Land of Lincoln as Richardson Adventure Farm in Spring Grove hosts it. The two races test competitors on an intense course with mud, fire and barbed wire. The blitzrace stretches over three miles of obstacle courses highlighted by routes like “Holy Sheet,” “Pedal for the Medal,” “Battering Ram” and other classics that include “Colossus” and “Sawtooth.” The savage race runs about five to seven miles. The top performers can earn awards, and if competitors run two or more races, they can achieve the prestigious Syndicate Medal.

Saturday, July 25; 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Registration: $125-$165. Richardson Adventure Farm, 909 English Prairie Rd., Spring Grove.
