Ten days to savor and pay tribute to local restaurant workers with special offers and menus. A nostalgic drive-in is open for the season in Ingleside. A Food Network star takes the stage in Waukegan. Jump around in Gurnee. Support local businesses on the first Friday of the month in downtown Libertyville. Lets take a look at the top five things to do this weekend April 1-3.

1. Ten Days to Savor: Lake County Restaurant Week

Savor for 10 days as Lake County Restaurant Week kicks off this week featuring over 60 land of lakes eateries. The seventh installment of the fare event gives foodies the opportunity to explore new places to dine or visit old favorites. Each participating restaurant will be offering either a prix fixe menu or an exclusive restaurant week dining offer. Visitors can win various prizes when aiming their smart phone camera at the participating eatery’s QR code located on the table tent, or visit LakeCountyRestaurantWeek.com to enter. Check in at three participating restaurants to qualify during the 10-day stretch. Dining parties have the opportunity to win an overnight stay dinner and theatre package at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, Marriott Theatre and Wright’s Brew & Bistro. Other prizes include a cooking class at The Joyful Gourmet in Libertyville and a $50 gift card at from a participating restaurant. In this edition of LCRW, patrons are invited to snap their entrée, capture yourself eating a divine dish or their server serving your cuisine (with their permission) at VisitLakeCounty.org/Restaurant-Week-Photo-Contest.  The fare holiday only happens once a year, so make your reservations early. While devouring the delectable fare across the county this weekend, share your experience on social media using #LakeCountyRW and/or #LetsGoLakeCounty. Lake County Restaurant Week: Ten Days to Savor runs through Sunday, April 10.

2. Miller's Dog N Suds in Ingleside Opens For The Season

Miller’s Dog-N-Suds Drive-in is celebrating its 55th year serving Lake County at their family-run eatery in Ingleside. Cruise over to the land of lakes, old-timey drive-in to try their root beer floats, world-famous “Coney Dogs,” their juicy Texas Burger and fries, paired with sundaes and more. The 1950s-themed drive-in plans to host their Saturday Night Cruise throughout the season, where Lake County residents ride in their street rods, muscle, classic and antique cars. The half-century-old Lake County staple has a picnic area and patio to chow down on their home-cooked classics all night long. The eatery is open daily, with daily specials through October.

3. "Alton Brown Live: Beyond The Eats" at Genesee Theatre in Waukegan

Foodies assemble as the star of such Food Network shows as “Cutthroat Kitchen,” “Good Eats” and “Iron Chef America” brings his family-friendly show to the stage at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. “Alton Brown Live: Beyond the Eats” is a night of comedic culinary stories garnished with cooking demonstrations, a dash of food science and sprinkled with musical numbers performed by Brown and his band. The two-time, James-Beard Award-winning chef has appeared on myriad documentaries, movies and children’s shows. Bon Appétit.

4. Launch Gurnee Trampoline Park

5. First Friday in Downtown Libertyville

Celebrate First Friday in downtown Libertyville.  Support local businesses as they extend their business hours to serve refreshments, provide exclusive discounts and promote a festive atmosphere during the monthly event. Italian eatery, Café Pomigliano offers half-priced drinks and appetizers from 4-6 p.m., along with a free glass of wine with any dinner entrée. Improv Playhouse hosts its monthly standup showcase “First Friday Funnies,” featuring a collection of talented comedians. Lake County Restaurant Week Partners The Joyful Gourmet, O’Toole’s Libertyville, Café Pomigliano, Casa Bonita Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar, Chrissoulas Restaurant, Dangela’s Dumplings, Main Street Social, Mickey Finn’s Brewery and Sweet Home Gelato are offering exclusive promotions and specials throughout the ongoing foodie fest as well. Be sure to check out outside of downtown Libertyville LCRW participants like Wildberry Pancakes and Café and Harbor Kitchen + Tap.
