National Taco Day took a while to become a national day (2009), but that doesn’t mean it’s not welcomed.
Here’s an interesting tidbit or two. Mexico housed the creator of this delicious treat and it even predates European conquistadors. The dish is native to people living in the lake region of the Valley of Mexico and it used to only be filled with small fish.
Obviously Taco Tuesday has taken on different recipes since that period in time. Here’s your second tidbit: In 1964, Roberto L. Gomez was the catalyst in establishing the National Taco Council. This council sent a 55-pound taco to former President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967.
On this Taco Tuesday/Tasty Tuesday indulge in some yummy tacos. I got to hurry up and write this so I can get some myself, porque tengo que comer tacos ahora!
