Six Flags Great America Fright FestIt's a yearly tradition to attend Six Flags Great America's Fright Fest by Snickers at least once. Every year, the Gurnee amusement park adds something more innovative, thrilling and downright terrifying for Fright Fest. Well folks it's no different in the 2016 edition of Fright Fest.

Sure Fright Fest can conjure up scary scenes of screams and mayhem, but it’s not just haunted houses! Six Flags knows that even little goblins want to enjoy Halloween fun, so they split up each day with age-centered events.

Also people turn into zombies - especially when they're hungry. Don't forget to pick up a Snickers bar and enter for a chance to win the Snickers Hungry for Frights Sweepstakes before you go t Fright Fest. Indulgers of the choclatey treat will have a chance to win the ultimate Fright Fest package for you and a ghoul, and two 2017 Six Flags seasons passes. Continue here for more details.

Thrills by Day

Bugs & fairy compressedThis is generally the best time for kids who aren’t looking for a big scare. From park opening, until 6 p.m., Six Flags is all smiles and pumpkins! Dress up your littlest ghost and witches and head out for a day full of family fun including trick-or-treating trails where they can meet their favorite Looney Tunes characters! Add a little color to your pictures, and get a face painted and then take a picture with Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Taz and Sylvester. And admission for youngin's 2 & under is free!

Fright fest is running longer and later than ever! Stay until midnight on Saturdays, and enjoy a later final closing date of Nov. 1.

Character Candy Trail Little ghouls can trick-or-treat In the Mardi Gras area every Saturdays and Sunday noon-3 p.m.

Kid Friendly Themed Areas Scare-free zones like Camp Cartoon and Kidzopolis are perfect for families with young children.

Pumpkin Carving Children of all ages can watch in awe as ordinary pumpkins are transformed into amazing jack-o’-lanterns right before their eyes.

Love At First Fright Fright Fest’s trademark family musical is back for its 25th smash season! Join Jack and Katie on their dare to spend a night in the cemetery. This trademark always keeps it up-to-date with pop culture.

This is when things get a little spooky! At 6 p.m. every night, the park turns from friendly to frightening. Zombies, witches and ghouls roam the park, just waiting to give you a real scare. Ride all of Six Flags’ roller coasters, including Goliath, in complete darkness! Get your scare on this Halloween season with 6 haunted houses, 6 new spooktastic shows and a complete transformation of the park into your worst nightmares.

Rage of the Gargoyles

This is the Demon ravamped. The Rage of the Gargoyles is a virtual Reality Coaster of the Demon Ride powered by Samsung and Gear VR. It is a terrifying fully immersive virtual reality coaster experience. Bottle blood thirsty creatures while riding as you shoot at the gargoyles turning your heads throughout the Demon ride. Each battle begins at 6 p.m. each night.

Haunted Houses and Wrist Bands

fright-fest-clownsSome of the haunted houses are scarier than others, so be sure to check the scare level before entering. Or, just brave it and go to all 6 houses. They’re an additional cost, but if you’re looking for a real frightening experience, they’re totally worth it.

Big Top Terror - BRAND NEW

Located in the County Fair district - this house is no laughing matter. Take a stroll (or brisk walk if you're a scaredy cat) through this insane Big Top sponsored by M&M's. There's no way you will have the same perspective on clowns. I know I won't.

Investation! -BRAND NEW

Situated in the Southwest Territory where scary creatures like the Viper and the Raging Bull hang around, this is worse than what goes bump in the night. These scares are a collection of your greatest fears unleashed. Enter if you dare to this haunted house sponsored by Twix.

Gates of Hell fright-fest-2013-27

This is the home of Nox. He has placed his most tortured souls here and challenged them with the task of capturing more souls for his collection. It all takes a terrible turn in the House of Terror. Stand before the Gates of Hell and brace yourself for Fright Fest's largest haunt ever!

Apocalypse: Zombie Experience - 

This refugee camp from the zombie outbreak has benen overrun. If you were expeting to take refuge, you were sadly mistaken. For an additional fee, you can grab a gun and do your part in destroying the zombie invaders to reclaim this camp. Apocalypse guns can be purchased at SF Outfitters. Both of these new rides are located in Mardi Gras

 

Massacre Medical Center This decrepit hospital was rumored to be vacated of patients and doctors years ago following a great massacre. Passersby near the hospital recall eerie noises and inexplicable images in the building – begging the question… who or what lurks within?

Manslaughter Manor: Sadie's Revenge This manor, tucked away in the Southwest Hills, has the reputation for being cursed by the residents of Skull Valley. Do you dare enter?

Not all of the haunted areas cost an extra fee. If you like other thrills besides roller coasters and haunted house, here's a list of some more haunted attractions that Six Flags Great America's Fright Fest does free of charge out of the goodness of their undead hearts.

- Season pass holders get to save $5, so their express wristband price is $30. Once season pass holders buy a Haunted House Pass - they receive unlimited visits throughout all of Fright Fest 2016

- The Express Haunted Attraction Wristband: $40 The extra few bucks for the Express wristband can cut wait times BIG time! Get to experience more of the park instead of waiting in line for haunted houses.
