Theater junkies have awaited the 2017 Marriott Theatre schedule. Your wait is over, as the Lincolnshire theater has released their lineup this season.

As always, you will laugh, cry, sing along and maybe dance to the tunes performed by the talented thespians all year. Mamma Mia! and Newsies are on the docket and are fan-favorites that never disappoint.

Highlights like Sister Act and Singin’ in the Rain came and graced the stage in the 2016 season. It was a disappointing coincidence that right before Singin’ in the Rain closed their curtain, we lost Debbie Reynolds, who was a co-star of the 1952-renowned film.

The 360-degree vantage point theater brings as much joy and magic to the stage that you could see on Broadway right to Lake County. For a wonderful weekend experience, get a package deal that includes a dinner made for royalty, a show and an overnight stay at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.

Here is the full 2017 season of entertainment at Marriott Theatre .

Madagascar – A Musical Adventure

February 25-April 15 Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hop Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto the Lincolnshire stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. The gang attempts to escape from their Central Park Zoo displacement to return home to their own country – Madagascar. The show is based off of the 2005 DreamWorks animated motion picture that starred Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith.

She Loves Me

April 26-June 18 A comedy-musical gem based off the book by Joe Masteroff is set in the 1930s in a Hungarian parfumerie and the store clerks. Amalia and Georg don’t see eye-to-eye at work, but get jazzed up as they unknowingly write love letters to each other after responding to a lonely hearts advertisement. The original stage play won a Tony Award in 1964 for Jack Cassidy’s portrayal of Steven Kodaly. Just picture the drama that may occur on a reality show between employees with text messages (instead of love letters) and Tinder at a modern-day Sephora.

The Bridges of Madison County is a sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross.

Honeymoon in Vegas

August 23-October 15 The New York Times raved Honeymoon In Vegas is “a real-live, old fashioned, deeply satisfying Broadway musical in a way few new shows are anymore!” Based on the classic 1992 film comedy starring Sarah Jessica Parker, James Caan and Nicholas Cage, this is the hilarious story of commitment-phobe Jack, his not-so-patient girlfriend Betsy, and a professional gambler named Tommy. Featuring a book by Andrew Bergman (who wrote and directed the original film) and music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, this is a musical comedy in the Golden Age tradition, with gags, games and great tunes.

Newsies

October 25-December 31 Finally the wonderful musical from Disney: Newsies hits the Lincolnshire stage. This story is inspired by a true story about Jack Kelly and the NYC Newsboy Strike of 1899. Kelly is the captivating leader of the newsboy and/or newsies gang. Distribution rates from the newspaper companies raise at the expense of the newsies and Kelly bands his brothers together to rally against the print writing heads. STEEEEERIKE!
