Visit Lake County Wins Best Social Media Marketing at 2014 Illinois Governor’s Conference on Tourism

This week, the 2014 Illinois Governor’s Conference on Tourism, held at the Palmer House in Chicago, honored the innovative work of industry professionals with the “Illinois Excellence in Tourism Awards” presented in 11 categories. Visit Lake County won for Best Social Media Marketing. This is the second time that Visit Lake County has won this award. They last won it in 2009. Entries were judged by a panel of marketing and tourism professionals on clarity of message, creativity, originality and the project’s overall success. Visit Lake County won for Best Social Media Marketing in Division A. This is the second time that Visit Lake County has won this award, they last won it in 2009.

Visit Lake County has been utilizing social media marketing to increase awareness of Lake County’s hotels, attractions, special events and special events. The Visit Lake County submission showcased their cooperative summer social media campaign with KeyLime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort to build awareness and drive overnight bookings at the resort through education and inspiration.

“We are honored and excited to be recognized as an industry leader in Social Media Marketing and look forward to continued growth and success in these platforms to attract additional visitors to Lake County,” said Anthony Haag, Visit Lake County Marketing Manager.
