The National Museum of the American Sailor (NMAS) is excited to announce our newest initiative #MySailorStory. We invite followers of NMAS to share and learn about stories or memories of current and former enlisted sailors regarding their service in the U.S. Navy. These stories can be collected from Navy family members, spouses, the sailors themselves, or through historical research conducted by NMAS staff or volunteers.
Submissions will be collected and shared through NMAS’ website and/or social media channels (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) on a bi-weekly basis. Submissions must be appropriate and unclassified in nature. Once submitted you are allowing NMAS staff to share information and photograph(s) with the public.
Please complete a Submission Form and include it with your #MySailorStory submission. Entrants’ submissions must include the following information:
- A completed #MySailorStory Submission Form
- At least one digital image to accompany the #MySailorStory submission. They kindly ask that images be no larger than 5MB. File names must correspond with the name of the entrant listed on the submission form. While NMAS encourages the expression of all stories and memories pertaining to the U.S. Navy's enlisted sailor, submissions must be unclassified and appropriate for distribution on their website and/or social media channels. Explicit and/or discriminatory images of any kind will not be accpeted, per the discretion of NMAS
- Failure to complete the submission form and/or to follow the instruction above will result in images not being considered for initative inclusion
- Entrants must submit their image and a completed submission form to nmas.fct@navy.mil. Incomplete submission forms or lack of image can result in the submission to not be used.
