Meet in the Visitor Center
Medical studies now confirm what many people have felt for years – being in nature is good for us. A practice of immersing ourselves in the natural world can help us de-stress, improve concentration, and boost our immune systems. In turn, we can be good for nature, building a relationship that helps us protect and support nature in our more-than-human world. The Association of Nature & Forest Therapy Guides and Programs has developed guided walks that help participants create or deepen meaningful relationships with nature. Walks are typically 2-3 hours and cover a mile or less. Certified Nature Therapy Guide Linda Karlen leads this walk based on sensory awareness and shared observations to create a meaningful and fun experience.
We’ll be following COVID protocols so please bring your mask. Also bring drinking water. Walk is weather dependent – use your best judgement; we’ll do our best to contact you by email if it is cancelled.
Geared to adults and interested youth ages 11 and up. Registration is required at 815-344-1294 or firstname.lastname@example.org - please tell us name(s) of participants, and ages of minors. Group size is limited to 9 plus the leader; Walk-ins welcome if space allows but walk may be cancelled if minimum registration is not met 24 hours prior.
