Sails Unfurled: The Dawn of the U.S. Navy, 1775-1865 Exhibit at National Museum of the American Sailor

The National Museum of American Sailor's brand new permanent exhibit: Sails Unfurled has been unveiled.

Explore the U.S. Navy's earliest days and discover how enlisted sailors used hard work, teamwork, and innovation to establish the foundation of today's Navy. The exhibit showcases the life and work of enlisted sailors from the American Revolution through the American Civil War.

"Sails Unfurled" is an immersive exhibit that welcomes visitors to a recreated Age of Sail ship's deck. Based on the USS Constitution, the design of "Sails Unfurled" takes visitors back to the earliest days of the Navy. The exhibit includes several interactive elements, including a knot tying station and music from the era.
