Wetland Botany of Midsummer at Volo Bog State Natural Area

Thursday August 23, 2018 - Saturday August 25, 2018

Times: 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Wetland Botany of Midsummer at Volo Bog State Natural Area

The diversity of plant life is astounding and late summer features some very interesting characters from boneset to mad-dog skullcap to the familiar poison sumac and pitcher plants. This day-long workshop starts indoors with a self-paced exploration of herbarium specimens. After lunch we head outside to find the plants along the boardwalk and share what we have learned. Ideal for the seriously curious student of botany or someone just getting into plants, this program is geared to adults and interested youth ages 11 and older. Registration requested by emailing dnr.volobog@illinois.gov or by phone at 815-344-1294. Tell us your name, email, phone number, and ages of any minors. Group size is limited; program may be cancelled if minimum registration is not met 48 hours prior.
