Wetland Botany of midsummer at Volo Bog State Natural Area

Thursday July 05, 2018

Times: 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bring your curiosity and passion! We’re going delve deep into the botanical wonders that are found in Volo Bog! Our mid-summer session catches Indian pipe, arrowhead, jewelweed, buttercups, bladderworts, water shield and orchids among the omnipresent poison sumac, sphagnum moss and tamaracks. We start indoors with an study of the site’s herbarium specimens then head out for the afternoon to meet the plants “in person.” Bring sunscreen and a hat and a sack lunch for a picnic.
